Back for its third installment, Pacific Plaza Records is proud to present its annual holiday compilation: “It’s A Vaporwave Christmas Vol. 3”! Twenty tracks from heavy hitters in the scene as well as up-and-coming producers from the genre’s hyperlinked online community. The pairing of Vaporwave’s nostalgia and the Holiday Season’s soft glow is a natural fit with the compilation showcasing the breadth of sound in today’s contemporary vaporwave and internet music scene!

Not simply content to slow down holiday classics, the producers on “It’s A Vaporwave Christmas Vol. 3” have truly gifted us a cornucopia of vibes, sub genres and approaches to crafting their sounds of the season. While you will find classic eccojams from scene stalwarts (TVVIN_PINEZ_M4LL, g h 0 s t, 회사AUTO), there is also a buffet of subgenres to choose from: vaporwave zero/breakbeats (Luxury Noise), vaportrap (Trucks Passing Trucks), slushwave (VANITAS命死), hypnagogic pop (DATAGIRL & Nanshrine, Darien Shields), lo-fi beats (Aviscerall, Katherine, Riverwave川の波) and even joyous celebrations of holiday funk (Groovy Kaiju, Discoholic, NetNavi). Inspired by the sounds of the winter season, contributions to the album include instrumental fantasias (ChibaCityBlues, VANITAS命死), future holiday classics with vocals (DATAGIRL & Nanoshrine, Discoholic ft. Matthew Clanton) and even a titular title-track by the scene’s prankster-with-a-heart-of-gold, Wizard of Loneliness; “A Vaporwave Christmas”.

The compilation, advertisements and artwork pull from all sides of the vaporwave movement- taking inspiration from classic holiday albums and the sentimental aesthetics that have been commercialized over the past half a century in Western Culture. Even the artwork, designed by graphic designer JavaPlaza, fuses the imagery of vaporwave with the enchanting aura of a starry Christmas Eve. Curated yearly by label founder Alyx Poska (aka Trucks Passing Trucks), the compilation embraces the camp and reverie of that special time of year. There may be no holiday more suited for vaporwave’s imagined memory of the past and complicated relationship to consumer culture... and this year’s “It’s a Vaporwave Christmas Vol. 3” continues to explore all the facets of our holiday hopes and dreams.
