Croix Baker In spite of (or perhaps because of) the artist's difficulties the past few months, Hysteria Format V.1. may be perhaps C!erra My$t's most accessible album yet. It's given me a way to reset when things get too crazy. I sincerely hope making art gives them some relief as I know it does for myself. Their seemingly effortless ingenuity is a treasure that I am glad to behold. Favorite track: needle eater.

Emerging from the urban depths of the Mid-Atlantic, Baltimore producer C!erra My$t has once again dropped an album of frenetic breakcore after an unusual hiatus for most of 2022. The multi-genre producer, also known for his Lost Cascades alias, is renowned for his prolific and manic pace of releases but he had been silent for most of the year. After facing repeated challenges to his mental and physical well-being during the past two years, C!erra My$t has channeled his struggle into a gorgeously warped and desperate album: "Hysteria Format V.1."

The pain, pleasure and suffering of KIDJUNKIE is rendered through the swaying tempos, moments of placid synth and hammering beats- taking you to the depths of hell and back. This deeply emotional and stark journey emanates a manic energy- an energy that was harvested by C!erra My$t in a stream-of-conscious, 12 hour production session.

A reflection of his own struggles, “Hysteria Format V.1.” is the first full length album in many months- atypical for such a prolific producer. But with this release, C!erra My$t continues his experimentation with top-notch breakcore that reflects the lived-experiences of a struggling human in a dystopian world. The producer himself sums it up succinctly: "[I am] just expressing myself screaming inside because I cannot do it outside."
